Columbia Weekender Guide

Ah, good ol’ CoMo…

I don’t know everything about Columbia, but after living here for almost a year and a half I think I’ve got a good idea. Below are a few places that hold some of my favorite college memories and best belly laughs. With the pandemic being an elephant in the room when making any and all plans now a days, here are some Covid friendly options for your weekends in Columbia.

Gals Night Out

Gab that outfit you’ve been staring at for weeks and make a statement at your next girls night. These options are the perfect downtown destinations for brunch, dinner and even drinks.

  • The Roof – Perfect for date night, my boyfriend and I just recently ate here and the views were amazing!! Highly recommend the crab cakes and flat breads!
  • Pressed – Prettiest sunset views in CoMo. Pressed has been the latest downtown craze, and has definitely lived up to it’s rep.
  • Room 38 – The iconic “Cheers” grass wall… yes it’s worth the hype. Room 38’s food is SO good! Perfect for friends, family and date nights. If you have a large party, rent out the Red Room to switch up your Friday Night. My friends and I just did that this past weekend and will definitely be doing it again. Did someone say friendsgiving?? Book it!

CoMo Classics

  • Shakespeare’s Pizza – Can you say best college pizza?? Barstool DID! This was the first place I ate with my parents after choosing Mizzou, so it holds a special place in my heart.
  • Booches Billiard Hall – Get the burger.
  • The Broadway Diner
  • Sparky’s Homemade Ice Cream – The best pick-me-up in Columbia. I am a sucker for some sparky’s and probably always will be.
  • Sub Shop – Just went here for the first time a few weeks ago and was really impressed. The decor is very retro, a cool place to visit!

Downtown Shops

We all know about my shopping addiction, so I’ll let you guys figure these out for yourselves…

Fresh Air

  • The Big Tree – One of the best days I’ve had here was at this tree… The girls and I took a little road trip (probably only 20 minutes or so) on a rainy day and blasted music from the car as we danced in the rain under big tree. It could have been right out of a movie, but it was perfect
  • Rock Bridge Memorial State Park
  • Shelter Gardens

Late Night Munchies

  • Pizza Tree – The BEST for late night munchies. Try the macaroni pizza, you won’t regret it
  • Gumby’s – Pokey Sticks PLZ
  • Insomnia Cookies – My best friend from home ordered me a box for my birthday last year and has cursed me with the irresistible taste ever since. Let’s just say I could lay off the Insomnia…
  • Hot Box Cookies

Let me know if this post inspires any mini trips, and comment down below your favorite spots in CoMo!

  1. Pizza Tree is arguably the best pizza I have ever had. When my parents came and visited this was on the top of my list of places to take them. Needless to say they were impressed!
